ATA Brasil (Atlântico Transporte Aéreo) originated from an air taxi company based in Recife, founded in 1991. In 2001 the company began to carry out some passenger flights with a Cessna 208, connecting cities such as Caruaru, Campina Grande, Petrolina and Paulo Alfonso.
In 2002 the company began operating cargo flights.
Between 2003 and 2004 the company changed hands and moved its headquarters to Fortaleza. From then on, the company adopted the “low cost, low fare” concept and launched charter flights on June 1, 2004 with a Boeing 737-200, for 110 passengers. Some of the destinations operated were São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Maceió, Natal and Fortaleza. It was when the company adopted the name "ATA Brasil" and a livery identical to FlyJet (English company). The company also acquired a Boeing 727-200F to operate cargo flights.
In 2005 ATA Brasil was also authorized to operate regular flights on the São Paulo - Recife and São Paulo - Fortaleza routes. However, a few months later the company suspended all flights.

Air Brasil was created in October 2003 for air cargo transport. The company began activities with a Boeing 727. The company also received a second Boeing 727 and operated between São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Campo Grande, Brasília, Goiânia, Salvador, Recife and Manaus. Air Brasil operated for the Post Office through the Night Postal Network and also carried out non-regular transport of cargo and mail.
In November 2010 ANAC banned the company from operating because its aircraft had problems.
In 2012 the company's certificate was revoked.

BRASMEX was the first international cargo airline in Brazil. Its intention was to operate between Campinas and Manaus to Miami, Luxembourg, intra-South American flights and domestic flights. The company had only one DC-10-30F, but not enough money. The company made a few irregular flights and returned its single aircraft.

JetSul Taxi Aéreo was founded in March 1993. Operations began at Bacacheri airport, in Curitiba. In 1994 the operations were transferred to São José dos Pinhais Airport, later known as Afonso Pena International Airport.
In 2002 JetSul began operating passengers charter and regular with two EMB-110s, under the name JetSul Linhas Aéreas. The company also purchased a Fokker 27 from Tam to operate cargo flights. However, the aircraft was sold to Tavaj in a short time.
In 2003 JetSul ended its regular activities, but remained an Air Taxi company until 2008.

MTA (Master Top Airlines) was a cargo airline part of group Cielos del Peru and Centurion Cargo. The company began operations in 2006, between Sao Paulo, Manaus and Campinas with a DC-10-30F. Later the company received more two DC-10 and began flying to Brasilia. In 2010 the company planned to expand its fleet with two Airbus A300B4F, but with a corruption scandal involving the company, all operations were ceased.

National emerged in 2000 with low fare concept. The airlines started to fly with a leased 737-400 to Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Fortaleza and Sao Luis. In a short time, Rio de Janeiro was also added to the network.
In March 2001 the only aircraft suffered an incident while flying between São Paulo and Recife and had to be out of operation for almost a month. After repairs, the 737-400 was returned to the lessor on April 14, 2001. In its place Nacional brought a B737-200. In July the company received a second 737-200 and started flights to Cuiabá, Campo Grande Araçatuba.
In January 2002 two Boeing 737-200s, which belonged to Varig, were about to be delivered to Nacional, when the company suspended all regular flights. According to the company's founder, Aramis Maia, Nacional had been losing money. Nacional continued to operate only charter flights and postponed the receipt of new aircraft. However, in February the two aircraft were grounded and did not carry out any further flights. On March 26, 2002 the two 737-200s were returned. In April the directors officially announced the end of all operations. Unlike most companies that goes bankrupt, Nacional guaranteed the payment of all its debts and the reaccommodation of all passengers who had purchased tickets.

NOAR Linhas Aéreas (Northeast Regional Aviation) commenced operations in 2009 with Let-410 aircraft and connected Northeast cities that were abandoned since the end of Nordeste.
In 2010 the company started code-share with Gol, but in September 2011 the company suspended operations after an accident involving one of its aircraft in Recife.

Via Brasil was a charter airlines and commenced operations in January 1999. With one Boeing 727-200, the airlines made charter flights from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to northeast region of Brazil as Recife, Fortaleza, Natal, João Pessoa and Porto Seguro. Via Brasil also operated international flights to Bariloche, in Argentina. In 2002 the only B727-200 was banned by DAC due technical problems and the company ceased operations.

WhitJets is from a Portuguese charter group. The company was authorized to operate in Brazil on March 5, 2010. Its operations began on 12 June 2010 between Rio de Janeiro, Campinas and Varadero with a Airbus A310-300. In January 2011 the company received an Airbus A320 and in 2012 returned the A310.
In 2013 the company began plans to operate as regular airline under the name PopBrasil and incorporate Boeing 737 and 767. However, in the same year the company returned its only A320 and stopped operating.
